Peter Jefferson directs Kohala Pleinair on the Big Island of Hawaii. The beautiful island inspires his colorist style.
A love of art stems from a family of painters, artists, and curators. He grew up in the heart of New York City, exploring the museums and galleries.
He began drawing as an engineer in Boston. At Carnegie Mellon University, where he received a Master of Architecture, he began painting in watercolors and life drawing. Peter’s art studies flourished at the DeCordova Museum School. His studies continued with oil painters Ovanes Berbarian and Brigette Curt.
Peter’s hula paintings are featured on the HGTV program “Building Hawaii (Episode 7).” His works can be viewed at Mauna Lani’s The Third Dimension Gallery, the Gallery of Great Things in Waimea, and Plantation Interiors in Kailua-Kona.
