Peter Jefferson is a colorist with an impressionist style.  “I use color and light to create drama in all my work.”

He began drawing as an engineer in Boston.  He received a Masters of Architecture at Carnegie-Mellon University, where he first began painting in watercolor and studied life drawing.  Peter’s art studies flourished at the DeCordova Museum School (Concord, MA).  His studies continue with Master Oil Painter, Ovanes Berberian.

Peter has directed the Kohala PleinAir Painters since 2013.  His artwork has won numerous awards including the 2022 Hawaiian Plein Aire Perspective.  Additionally, his art has been featured in many individual gallery shows, magazines, and television; his hula work is featured on the HGTV program, Building Hawaii (Episode 7).  Peter’s works can be viewed at The Issac’s Art Center, the Gallery of Great Things, Kohala Coast Fine Arts, and Plantation Interiors, and on Maui at Maui Hands Gallery in Pa’ia.
